GUIDELINES TO AVOID HEATER PROBLEM - COMMON CAUSES

1. VAPOR WITHDRAW VALVE LEFT OPEN WHEN FILLING THE PROPANE TANK

The vapor withdraw valve must be closed or shut off before filling the propane tank for the reason that high pressure from the pump can damage the regulator and the RV 18 valve.

2. OVER-FILLING THE PROPANE TANK

Do not fill the propane tank with liquid propane more than three quarter (3/4) as indicated on the gauge in order to give enough space for the liquid propane to boil and evaporate.

If the propane tank is over-filled, the liquid propane will be pushed into the regulator before it evaporates. Propane at a temperature of more or less -44°F will cause metals, like the brass fittings, and diaphragm of the regulator, to be brittle, frozen and cracked. When the regulator is damaged, it has to be changed; otherwise, the liquid propane will be pushed into the control valve (RV 18) and can damage the diaphragm of the valve.

3. WRONG TERMINAL CONNECTION FROM 12-V OF THE TRAILER TO THE HEATER TERMINAL

Our electronic module is built in safety protection that wrong connection will not damage the module however, it will not work either. Terminals should be properly connected (see attached wiring schematic).

4. CHARGING THE 6-V DIRECTLY WITH 12-V

Do not charge directly the 6-V battery with 12-V. If 12-V is connected directly to 6-V, the ground wire will melt because it has no bi-metallic fuse breaker and can damage the module's components.

5. HEATER DOOR LEFT OPEN OR DOOR SEAL IS BROKEN

The catalyst when wet, will not work and must be replaced. The beater door must be closed properly (using two latches) to protect the catalyst from exposure to rain or snow. If a door latch or the seal is broken, replace immediately.

6. POKING THE CATALYST OR ACTIVATOR WITH ANY OBJECT

Do not poke the catalyst or the activator with any object, especially sharp objects, because it will damage the activator or the catalyst. When the catalyst or activator is damaged, the heater will not work and has to be repaired.
